CARING COOKS
Every Tuesday, following Ladies Bible Class, many of our women put together delicious lunch plates from food they have prepared in their home. With the help of some of our men these meals are delivered to not only our elderly and homebound but anyone in the community who might be in need. This group also sees to it that families, who are going through the death of a loved one, are served a delicious meal either in our annex or delivered to their home.
Landmark
Every Sunday at 4:00 PM, members of all ages of our congregation lead and participate in a worship service at the Landmark Nursing Home. Doug Smith, our Involvement Minister, organizes the men in charge of this weekly service, which includes singing, praying, scripture reading and partaking of the Lord ’s Supper. Many of our members participate in this worship service to assist the residents during this time of worship.
FOOD PANTRY AND CLOTHES CLOSET
Our Congregation’s volunteers, lead by J.T. Beard, Deacon, live out Matthew 25:37-40 by providing essential food items and clothing from 8:45am – 10:15am on the second and third Thursday of each month. In addition to being fed and clothed physically, recipients are fed spiritually in a Bible class taught Doug Smith, Involvement Minister. Resources are also available to individuals outside of our scheduled distribution times, when needs arise. This ministry is supported financially from the congregation’s weekly offering as well as by others, both within the Congregation and the local community, who donate food, clothing, home goods or financially on an ongoing basis. Each week our bulletin lists the pantry item of the month. In addition to support from regular contributions, a special contribution occurs on one fifth Sunday of the year where the entire contribution is designated for benevolence purposes.
VISITATION PROGRAM
Led by Dale Kendrick, Deacon, assignments are provided to participating members to send cards, make calls, or go on home visits to individuals who are in need of support or encouragement. Typically on the first Sunday of each month, these assignments are given out.
JAIL MINISTRY
We have been blessed to have God open doors at the Prentiss County Jail that allows the word to be spread there. Jim Estes, one of our elders, coordinates this ministry of volunteers who teach bible studies monthly to men and women who are incarcerated there. We also offer Bible Correspondence Courses to further teach the inmates God ’s word.
